Tennis

SHAKESPEARE RESUSCITATED
Lee Simpson has worked as an actor in London for several years. He trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama, specialising
in Shakespearean theatre. This 8 week course aims to introduce young people to the Shakespearean text, affording them a greater
understanding of the writer’s language and ideas through performance. Shakespeare wrote his plays to be performed, not read,
and the course will, therefore, culminate in the presentation of selected scenes from one of his plays in the school’s theatre space.
No previous experience is necessary, just a commitment to experiment and discover something new about Shakespeare and about
yourself.

Wushu

Mr. Li Yanhui teaches this form of Chinese martial art. Wushu helps develop physical co-ordination, teaches self-defence skills,
cultivates moral values and emphasizes the exercise of thought. All students must either already have or be prepared to purchase a
uniform in order to take part in this class.

Cricket
Beijing Cricket Club, a group of experienced and passionate cricketers, will share with students the basics of batting, bowling, and
fielding. Emphasis will be on learning whilst having fun. For students who are from ‘Cricket Playing’ countries, this is an excellent chance
to learn the basic skills before returning to their home country.s

Swimming
The MultiSport swim programme teaches the fundamentals of water safety and helps children
develop the necessary skills to swim efficiently and gracefully, and with confidence.
Children may progress from Pre-school through to swimming confidently in the four
principal strokes and will also have the opportunity to advance through the Amateur
Swimming Association badge award scheme. MultiSport coaches are all ASA or AusSwim qualified. The coach will assess all children on
the first week and assign levels according to ability. Groups may be subject to change.

Children are taught to submerge, float and swim
with assistance and increase their water confidence
to become “water safe”. Parent/Helper
assistance is required.

Goldfish: Beginner I (5+years) 9.35-10.20am

The basics of full stroke technique will be introduced
with emphasis on front crawl and backstroke.
Students must be “water safe” to join
this class and confident in the water unaided.

Seal: Beginner II – 10.25-11.10am or 11.15-
12.00pm – RMB1300
Students must be confident in swimming freestyle
and backstroke for 25 metres with correct
technique. These strokes shall further be developed
along with the introduction of breaststroke.
Lessons are usually held in the DEEP END.

Swordfish: Intermediate/Advanced – 12.05-
12.50pm – RMB1300
Students must be confident to swim 50 metres
in front, back and breast stroke. These strokes
shall be further developed with an emphasis
on technique to achieve a graceful and efficient
swimming style while the butterfly stroke will
also be introduced. Competition turns and dives
shall also be introduced.


Basketball
Tom Gagne will again be conducting this very popular class with the goal of improving basic
skills, gaining knowledge of the game, and preparing students for the school basketball team.

French Language
Alliance Francaise will come to Dulwich College to conduct beginner and intermediate

Design & Make
Do you have lots of ideas? Would you like to see what your ideas would look like if they
were made? Ann Carmichael can help show you how. In this Design and Make class you can learn
how to develop an idea and plan the best way to make it. There will be opportunities to make your idea using a variety of materials
such as fabric, wood, wire plaster wrap and cardboard to sew, saw, hammer, plaster and glue your way.
Come along and learn how to be a product designer. Just bring your idea and see if you can make it.

is also an opportunity for your children to practice their Chinese language skills while
doing a fun activity.

International Youth Orchestra
This orchestra, established in January 2008, is led by the very experienced Maggie Zhou.
We welcome the best students to practice and learn together. Students with Suzuki Book 2,

Gymnastics
Gymnastics in early years benefits children’s physical fitness, self-discipline, positive self
esteem, and team skills. It also helps develop a fun and a healthy lifestyle that they will
sustain for life. Bing Zhao, herself a former Chinese National Champion, brings with her
more than 20 years of coaching experience, most of which was gained in Canada. Bing
has been working at Beijing Riviera Campus for DCP for several years. Six different groups
are offered, including rhythmic gymnastics.

Multi Sports
Conducted by MultiSport, a professional expat sport coaching company, this course is one of
their most popular courses combining a wide range of popular games and activities in an exciting
environment. It is aimed at introducing children to a variety of different sports, while
receiving a thorough grounding in Physical Education essential for their future development.
Please note, due to the development of children, the age groups are important. Children
younger than 3 years and older than 6 years cannot join the following groups.

self esteem and verbal skills of all students. Helen O’Grady Children’s Drama
Academy was founded over 26 years ago in Australia and now works with schools internationally.

Donna Lai, a Clinical Social Worker from Australia, with over 20 years experience in

Pewter Cast Jewelry
Adrian Jauk will show you the process of making a pewter cast and turning your design
into a one-off jewelry creation. Using cuttlefish bones to carve the casting will give your
finished product an ‘earthy’ quality. Materials and tools provided. Some work at home will

Photoshop
IPS is a professional Computer Skills training company providing a course focussed on
Photoshop. You will learn how to enhance your photos with light, filters and shades of

COOKING WITH PASSION
Chef and Owner of the locally renowned modern Middle Eastern restaurant ‘Za’atar’,
Gassano Barhoumeh, will share his absolute passion for food and cooking with you. The
first week of the course is a visit to the local market for a hands on look at what produce
is available and how to choose your produce correctly (Transport will be included). Seven
classes will incorporate an interesting collection of dishes you will learn to cook and love
to eat!

CONVERSATION

Whether you have just recently arrived in Beijing or been here a while and haven’t had
time to learn, this course is designed to teach you conversation to get you around Beijing.
Isa Zang, from Chinese Classroom, will come to Dulwich to teach this course. This is a
